Curriculum at Naracoorte Primary School

Our Curriculum

Teachers use the Australian Curriculum and the SA TfEL Framework to program learning.

The Australian Curriculum areas of English, Maths, Science, History and Geography, The Arts, Languages, Health and PE and Technologies focus on seven general capabilities (Literacy, Numeracy, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competence, Critical and creative thinking, Ethical behaviour, Personal and social competence, and Intercultural understanding) and three cross-curriculum priorities (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia, Sustainability).

The school hosts a variety of visiting shows to support the curriculum. All students are encouraged and supported to attend.

We offer Instrumental Music lessons in brass and woodwind, by both face-to-face sessions and by telephone. Piano instruction is offered through a private tutor.

The school has a high level of sport participation, both within the school and the community, through SAPSASA, Sports Day, S. E. Cross Country, daily fitness, annual Fun Run and class skill lessons

All students use the computer network and classroom computers (IBM). Interactive whiteboards are installed in all classrooms. A class set of iPads is available for classes to use throughout the week. A pod of 30 Macbook laptops are also available for the Year 6 team and can be booked by other classes at limited times.
